Saffron has often been described as a spice that is worth more than its weight in gold. It is so expensive that you may wonder “Can I grow saffron crocus corms and harvest my own saffron?” The answer is yes, you can grow saffron in your home garden. We will sell you the bulbs so you can grow your very own.

Saffron gardens are beautiful!

Here is one of our naturally growing Saffron fields, where saffron is grown and picked, with the greatest of care.

The gourmets all know that Saffron can cost hundreds of dollars for just one ounce! So why not grow it yourself.  Once you have purchased our saffron crocus corms and planted them right in your very own yard, harvesting saffron is easy. Simply pick the red stigmas on each flower, once the flowers are fully open. You can use right away or dry and store for months.

As they are a fall blooming crocus, you will plant them in the summer, hopefully August at the latest and the saffron will flower the next fall.  It is best to plant your corms as soon as possible after receiving them as they do not store well.

Saffron comes from the saffron crocus sativus, which is an autumn blooming crocus. The spice is actually the red stigmas of this crocus flower. Each saffron crocus corm will produce 1 flower and each flower will produce 3 stigmas .

We provide instructions for planting and harvesting the saffron with every order.
